I used to think I’d have to quit my job to be an entrepreneur.
I even did that for a while but learned it wasn’t sustainable so I returned to a corporate job.
I felt unhappy and annoyed because having a job got in the way of starting my own business.
I thought, if only I didn’t have this stupid job I had to do, I’d have the time I needed to build my business.
When you think in ‘either/or’ terms, it limits your options to either having everything or nothing.
But life is never like that.
The thing is, the job wasn’t stupid.
My job has been the biggest investor in my business.
Being able to support my family, pay bills, buy food, and invest in my side business is great.
My job has been my ticket to having the freedom to build my dream business.
There is one qualifier — you have to create a job you love or at least enjoy.
Instead of quitting your job, why not create a job you love that supports your business goals?
Here are 5 ways you can do that.
Get clear on your mission in life
My mission in life is to be a good mother and provide a comfortable life for our kids.
Beyond my kids, I also have goals and dreams to do work that makes a difference in other people’s lives.
My job gives us money for important things like our house, kids, school, and food.
Having peace of mind allows me to focus on my business goals. I can invest in business programs, hire coaches or freelancers, and use helpful tools.
Nobody goes from zero to hero overnight. It often takes months, even years.
Sure, you can use free tools, but when you’re a busy working mom, your time and energy are your most precious resource.
