Today is National Philanthropy Day, a day that is set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy, the desire to promote the welfare of others, often expressed by the generous donation of money to good causes.
This day celebrates the charities whose good work we support and the charitable work many undertake as volunteers.
One of the causes that we at Frequent Business Traveler support is the fight against Long Covid. This is being led in part by the Center for Long Covid Research, which is a patient-driven initiative that is working, among other things, on a Long Covid patient peer counseling phone line that will connect patients to volunteer trained counselors who are also Long Covid patients.
Consider supporting this initiative with a donation on National Philanthropy Day. Donations can be made by clicking here.
Long Covid, which affects millions of people across the globe, is known by many names including Post Covid,, long-haul Covid, post-acute Covid-19, post-acute sequelae of SARS CoV-2 infection (PASC), long-term effects of Covid, and chronic Covid.
It’s important to understand that Long Covid can include a wide range of ongoing health problems and that these conditions can last weeks, months, or years. Long Covid can be difficult to diagnose and some people might not realize that their symptoms are in fact indicative of having the condition. In addition, people who were not aware that they had an asymptomatic Covid-19 infection may also not suspect they have Long Covid.
