Bela R. Onken, Chartered Financial Analyst, head of the North America representative office at KfW IPEX-Bank, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial analysis.
With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Onken has excelled as chief representative and head of the representative office in North America at KfW IPEX-Bank since 2018. He began his career as a trainee at Bayerische Landesbank in Germany before transitioning as an intern to the strategy & operations division of HVB Group in 1996. He gathered further expertise as an intern at HVB Group’s Madrid-based representative office in 1997.
Mr. Onken continued his career at the Munich offices of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services as a senior manager in M&A and private equity transactions from 2000 to 2004. He was appointed to the role of vice president at Financial Modeling Advisory from 2004 to 2008 prior to his promotion as team head and director from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, Mr. Onken found success in multiple roles at KfW IPEX-Bank, starting as an investment and credit committee member in 2011 before excelling as director, team head transport, and head of social infrastructure from 2012 to 2018.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Onken pursued an education at the M.J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University, from which he obtained a Master of Business Administration in 1998. He concluded his academic efforts at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, graduating with a Master of International Business, Trade and Commerce in 1999. Mr. Onken holds multiple international certifications, including as a German banking officer by the Professional Banking School of Munich, Germany and a master of finance exchange from the University of the Americas, Mexico. Additionally, he holds a certification as a chartered financial analyst from the CFA Institute, of which he is also a member.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Onken has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He considers his most notable achievement to be carrying out the responsibilities of his current position at KfW IPEX-Bank, representing the organization in North America and promoting infrastructure financing in the U.S. In the immediate future, Mr. Onken hopes to obtain an advanced position and continue carrying out his duties with more success on more projects. He would like to grow more in his profession and ensure that the bank establishes itself as a prominent lender in North America for infrastructure and similar finance under his leadership.
