Leveraging decades of experience in her chosen field, as well as success in the realm of corporate management and entrepreneurship, Ms. Parker has availed herself on behalf of the indigent community as the chief executive officer and executive director of HomeStretch Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to help homeless families attain self-reliance and stability. Among her accomplishments in this role, she is most proud to have led a successful youth program that saw the conversion of a shipping container into an innovative classroom and laboratory that ultimately helped numerous children graduate and move on to brighter futures. Additionally, Ms. Parker is gratified to have helped pave the way for several families to transition from homelessness to homeownership throughout the course of her tenure with the organization. Well-regarded for her achievements, she has received several accolades, including an Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing by the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama in 2021, induction into the Atlanta Tribute Hall of Fame, and recognition for her work in spearheading greater diversity, equity and inclusion on behalf of the LGBTQ+ and Latin community.
Heeding the advice of her mother, who retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel, Ms. Parker has been involved in nonprofit organizing since her early childhood. After several years of working in the telecommunications industry, she reflected on her numerous years of volunteering with homeless families at HomeStretch and found that the organization’s mission aligned perfectly with her own values. In accounting for her subsequent success, she credits her intrinsic sense of empathy, as well as her respect and compassion for those for whom she works. Looking toward the future, Ms. Parker hopes to remain dedicated to the mission of exerting a positive impact on the homeless community, and to replicate her success in converting cargo containers into homes for families who are encountering financial hardship.
