The U.S Transportation Security Administration announced that TSA PreCheck, the agency’s trusted-traveler program, has reached a record 15 million members.
In November 2022, the agency lowered the initial enrollment fee for PreCheck. from $85 to $78. Membership is good for five years, if the application is approved.
“Today, TSA PreCheck represents a best-in-class model of a successful trusted traveler system,” said David Pekoske, the head of the TSA, noting that the program offers members shortened wait times that average ten minutes or less.
The PreCheck program first launched in October of 2011 and is available at over 115 airports in the United States
The Transportation Security Administration expanded the PreCheck trusted traveler program to include non-U.S. airlines in April 2014. The first such airline to participate was Air Canada and the first European airline to join was Lufthansa.
