A Texas airport employee was arrested after a loaded firearm and a baggie of cocaine were discovered in her possession as she arrived at the airport for her shift.
23-year-old Angelina Ortiz arrived at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for her shift on November 28th, however, as she traversed through airport security the airport concessions employee forgot to remove her loaded handgun from her purse.
According to Fox 7 News, Ortiz arrived at the airport in the 12:00 PM hour and was making her way through the TSA’s security screening process when a handgun was discovered. After an additional officer arrived, it was determined that Ortiz had a loaded handgun in her possession with 13 rounds in the clip. The make and model of the firearm were not disclosed.
After being taken aside for additional screening officers discovered Ortiz was in the possession of Alprazolam, a drug for anxiety, and a small baggie containing a white substance. After testing was performed the substance was determined to be cocaine.
Ortiz was arrested and taken to the county jail in Travis County where she was charged with having a firearm in a prohibited place and for possession of a controlled substance – the Alprazolam for which it appears she did not have a prescription. During the booking process, Ortiz was searched again and the additional baggie of cocaine was located. Charges for possession of illegal substances were added.
