Douglas Gerwin, PhD, executive director at the Center for Anthroposophy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of education.

Having accrued five decades of experience, Dr. Gerwin is a proven leader in the field of health care education. Since 2004, he has operated as the executive director of the Center for Anthroposophy in Wilton, New Hampshire. Additionally, since 1996, he has served as the founding chair of the Waldorf High School Teacher Education Program, as part of the Center for Anthroposophy. Dr. Gerwin has worked with the Association of the Waldorf Schools of North America since 1985 as a visiting teacher, evaluator and advisor. Originally from England, he began his professional career in 1972, working as a correspondent for Reuters News Agency in London until 1974. Well-regarded for his creative output as well, Dr. Gerwin continues to serve as an editor for Center and Periphery, and she has authored several books, including “Trailing Clouds of Glory: Essays on Human Sexuality and the Education of Youth in Waldorf Schools” in 2014. 

As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Gerwin pursued a formal education, initially earning a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and psychology at the University of Sussex in 1972. He subsequently attended the University of Dallas, where he achieved a Master of Arts in psychology and literature in 1980 and a Doctor of Philosophy in phenomenological psychology and literature in 1984. He also remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Anthroposophical Society in America. In light of his accomplished career, he attributes much of his success to the education he received from the Waldorf Schools. Looking to the future, Dr. Gerwin hopes to continue conducting research in the fields of education.
